Why teach Pride and Prejudice? There are numerous reasons but here are 5:

  1. Students will learn much society about history and the role of social classes and women in the 19th century
  2. It’s okay not to be good at everything
  3. Don’t make snap judgements as the are often wrong.

There are several themes of the novel. This unit will include a list and explanation of all of them and here are 3 of those themes:

  3. Individual vs. Society

The novel also contains many literary devices. This unit will include a large list along with examples and here are 5 of those literary devices:

  1. satire
  2. irony
  3. hyperbole
  4. parody
  5. caricature
