Grid art is a terrific way to practice using coordinates (A1) (D8) which is an important skill to master. Coordinates are a set of values that show an exact position which is used when graphing (Math) and reading maps (Geography). After all are complete, the graphing activity(ies) can begin! Great as a whole class activity, or in cooperative groups and/or centers. This has been created for 2nd and 3rd grades, however younger or older students might enjoy as well.
Students will practice reading a grid map and a map key with these town themed worksheets. Students will be given a grid map and key of a small town and asked several questions requiring them read and navigate throughout the map.
